Peer review is a process where a manuscript is assessed for quality and relevance by a number of experts (usually two to three) within the topic prior to publication.
Because peer reviewed sources have been through an additional quality check, they are often considered more reliable than sources that have not.
However, peer review is far from perfect, and a source is not automatically reliable just because it has been through peer review.
