The deadline for the final assignment is approaching. This time, you are eager to show your teacher that you can do independent work.
You found a good source in a foreign language that you know well. The source contains a brilliant explanation of one of the central concepts in your project. You translate the passage – about half a page – directly (without rewording) with an online tool and add it into your project.
You are aware that you have to reference the source, and probably also put the translated text in quotation marks, but there is a risk that you will appear unoriginal if you do so.
And, after all, it is your wording and not the original text. Your classmates tell you that they often translate bits of text and present it as their own. As they see it, the workload of the course is much too high, so the students have to find efficient time saving strategies.
How do you proceed?
