The originator of the idea

The deadline for the second assignment is approaching, and you have not yet found a good idea for your analysis.

You discuss the assignment in your study group, and one of the group members suggests a very original new angle.

You use the angle and as a result, you finish the analysis very quickly and without problems.

When you show your assignment to your classmate, she insists that you mention that she was the originator of the idea for the analysis. She claims that copying other students’ ideas without a reference is just as bad as plagiarizing their text.

However, you really need a good grade on this assignment and there is a risk that you might appear unoriginal once more.

You ask a friend of yours who is a master’s student on how to proceed. The friend advises you to simply make a general acknowledgement thanking the classmate for ’useful advice’ at the end of the assignment.
