You have to track concentration changes of a novel agent over time, under elevated CO2. Your supervisor has asked to pool your data with data from nine other BA students’ experiments to boost the sample size.
As the deadline approaches, you still miss 25% of your measurements. And you are blocked from the lab as one of the Ph.D.-students needs to use some of the instruments you need.
Unfortunately your supervisor has decided that the Ph.D.-student’s project is more important than yours. You know that you cannot get a strong conclusion if you do not get the last data.
However, when you pool your data with the data from the nine other students you can see that your values do not differ significantly from theirs. Thus, you can interpolate the values of the last measurements and complete the dataset without making the last experiments at all.
This might save your exam.
