In your final experiment you will only conduct the first part yourself. The experiment involves a very advanced technique that takes several days to go through.
This part will be done by a lab technician working in the lab who is supposed to keep a detailed logbook over the experiment, that you can use in your analysis.
You ask him to be thorough – as you have noticed that more experienced personal tend to be careless in taking notes.
When you get the data for your project, important measurements have not been noted. You visit the lab-technician and ask him about the missing information.
He claims he can remember the numbers and immediately fills them in. The numbers seem to be reasonable to you.
You consider talking to your supervisor about it, but on the other hand, you risk starting a conflict with the lab technician that you will have to work with in the future.
What do you do?
